Cleveland-based electric motorcycle startup Land Moto is advancing its battery technology with a $3 million infusion in 2024, on top of the $7 million raised last summer.

Revolutionizing Electric Motorbikes

Land Moto’s flagship product, the District electric motorbike, stands out with its unique blend of e-bike and motorcycle features. Equipped with one or two large Land-designed batteries, the District offers versatility, ranging from Class 2 operation with no permit required to high-performance mode, reaching speeds above 70 MPH.

Expanding Battery Utility Beyond Transportation

Recognizing the potential of large batteries beyond transportation, Land Moto is exploring ways to integrate its batteries into users’ daily lives. Similar to electric cars acting as home batteries, Land aims to leverage its batteries to provide additional functionalities beyond powering the bike.

Introducing Core Batteries and Power Tap

Land’s Core batteries, available in various sizes, offer up to a nominal 5.5 kWh capacity, providing a range of 80-100 miles. Additionally, these batteries can power household appliances during emergencies or outdoor activities. Land introduces the Power Tap accessory, featuring a 400W outlet and four USB-C ports, catering to users’ diverse needs.

Investing in Battery Manufacturing and Design

The $3 million investment is directed towards enhancing battery manufacturing and design capabilities. By developing Core batteries further, Land aims to establish itself as a key player in the electric battery market, catering to a broader range of applications beyond electric bikes.

Envisioning Future Applications

Evan Painter, Land’s head of design, highlights the company’s focus on innovation and battery design improvement. The redesigned battery showcased at CES features advanced inputs and outputs, including USB-C, USB-A, AC outlets, and solar input ports, hinting at potential future applications and integration possibilities.

Fueling Future Growth

The latest funding round, totaling $10 million, was led by Nunc Coepi Ventures, underscoring investor confidence in Land Moto’s vision and technological advancements. With a strong focus on battery development and integration, Land Moto is poised for further growth and innovation in the electric mobility sector.
